These six comic songs are derived from text of Paul Hiebert’s Sarah Binks, a comic portrayal of rural prairie life in Canada. Sarah, the ‘Songstress of Saskatchewan’ and a completely fictional character, is so vividly characterized that some music critics have believed her to be a real singer of German Lied and she has been quoted and criticized for her unusual translations by reputable musicological journals.
