The New Piano Anthology
This Anthology was over 600 years in the making!
The New Piano Anthology is a 22 volume survey of the repertoire written for the keyboard (piano and ancestral stringed keyboards). It includes music from the earliest existing manuscripts of the mid 14th Century through to present day. It is both scholarly in its source research and practical in its broad application for pedagogical use and serves as a substantial and comprehensive personal library.
The New Piano Anthology is also structured in a unique way; the collection is divided into five levels according to the technical and musical demands. Rather than being graded each level represents a different musical development stage; each stage typically representing two-three years of study. The initial level is designated Novitiate, followed by Proficient, Apprentice, Connoisseur and finally Artist.
Each level is comprised of four volumes according to musical period: Renaissance & Baroque, Classical, Romantic and Modern. The collection has been compiled to be as inclusive a survey as possible. Sonatinas and Sonatas are presented in their complete form as are several sets of the Romantic and Modern character pieces. A conscious effort has been made to include many great composers whose fame did not extend to today.
