Description
Dating from 1963, Walter Buczynski’s Amorphous belongs to the narrative or programmatic category within his substantial output for the instrument. Both Amorphous and the Aria and Toccata predate the more absolute forms found in is several sonatas for solo piano, his collection of preludes titled The August Collection and several others.
This is an atmospheric piece and while largely conventional in its notation and visual representation, it none the less provokes a modern reaction in the listener; an unresolved open ended question.
